Malta men’s tennis team win all matches, earn promotion in Davis Cup

Alex Degabriele and Liam Delicata won all their matches to earn promotion into Group 3 of the Davis Cup, on Saturday.

The two Maltese players, captained by Mark Gatt in this expedition, made sure of their promotion after winning the promotion play-off against Liechtenstein.

Degabriele and Delicata won all their singles and doubles matches against Albania and Armenia to top Group 4 Pool A before taking on Liechtenstein, runners-up in Pool B.

Liam Delicata vs Mikayel Avanesyan (ARM) 6-1, 6-3.
Alex Degabriele vs Sedrak Khachatryan (ARM) 6-4, 6-0.
Liam Delicata/Alex Degabriele vs Mikayel Avanesyan/Sedrak Khachatryan (ARM) 6-1, 6-2.

Liam Delicata vs Joan Sura (ALB) 6-2, 6-0.
Alex Degabriele vs Martin Muedini (ALB) 6-1, 6-0.

PROMOTION PLAY-OFF

Liam Delicata vs Moritz Glauser (LIE) 6-3, 6-2.
Alex Degabriele vs Serafin Zund (LIE) 6-3, 5-7, 7-5.
