St Andrews FC youngster Gianluca Cauchi attained a prestigious honour when he was awarded the Eusebio Prize during an Elite training camp at the Benfica Campus in Seixal, Portugal.
Cauchi was attending the training camp after he was selected among 121 talented footballers from all over the world.
The Eusebio prize is a prestigious accolade as it rewards the best player of all teams that took part during the Elite training camp.
Cauchi has impressed so much with his football skills that he has been invited to return to Benfica next year and hopefully with his hard work and determination his dream of playing top-level football will eventually become a reality.
Cauchi is a product of St Andrews FC and has been training and playing for the club for over 11 years.
The young left wing back also forms part of the Malta Under 17 National Team squad.
The application process for this Elite Training camp was very demanding as only a limited number of athletes are accepted each summer.
The competition was tough and training was arduous, as one would expect from such a prestigious academy.
Cauchi, however, has certainly left his mark and this award is also an honour for his club and Malta.
