Starlites Naxxar will become the first basketball team to represent Malta in a European competition in 32 years as they will feature in the upcoming edition of the FIBA Europe Cup.
Last season, Starlites won all men’s four domestic competitions including a third consecutive national championship.
The FIBA Europe Cup is a second-tier European competition and organised on a yearly basis with Germany’s Niners Chemnitz the current holders.
Starlites are one of the 14 clubs that will compete in the FIBA Europe Cup Qualifiers in a home-and-away series, with the winner of each pairing joining the Regular Season field.
These ties will be played on September 24 and 27, with the seeded clubs playing the return leg at home.
The draw for the qualifying round will be held this Friday.
