Malta international player Rachel Cuschieri will continue her career in the Italian Serie B Femminile next season after completing a move to Genoa.
“Rachel Cuschieri is a new player of Genoa Women,” the Italian club said in a statement.
“The Malta international midfielder has donned the colours of several clubs, including Lazio, PSV Vrouwen and Anderlecht. Welcome Rachel to our club.”
Cuschieri has been plying her trade abroad for several years now and last season she was on the books of Sampdoria.
However, in an interview with the Times of Malta after making her 100th appearance with the national team, Cuschieri had revealed that she was looking for a new adventure but stayed short of revealing the name of her new club.
Now it has been confirmed that Cuschieri will remain based in the same city but will now move to her former club Sampdoria’s neighbouring rivals Genoa.
After leaving Birkirkara in 2014, Cuschieri went on to play for Apollon Ladies, in Cyprus, Belgian side RSC Anderlecht, PSV Vrouwen, in the Netherlands, before heading to Italy to continue her career with Lazio and Sampdoria.
