Malta international player Kailey Willis has reached an agreement to join Italian Serie B side Parma Calcio Women but will spend the upcoming season with Venezia, the Times of Malta can confirm.
The 21-year-old forward has been plying her trade abroad for several years and last season was on the books of Venezia, in the Italian Serie C.
Parma have been keen on Willis’ talent and held talks with the player in the past few days to bring her to the Serie B club.
An agreement was sealed on Thursday which sees Willis put pen to paper on a two-year contract. However, Willis will spend the upcoming season on loan at Venezia before heading to Parma the following campaign.
Willis joined Venezia in December last year and managed to score 15 goals in 17 appearances with the club.
Willis has blossomed into a prolific goalscorer for the Malta national team, helping the side to an historic promotion to League B in the UEFA Nations League, and is a regular member of Manuela Tesse’s side.
So far Willis has collected 14 caps with the national team, netting three goals.
Willis has played with several clubs away from our shores during her career, namely Hellas Verona, Chievo Verona and Meran Women before heading to Venezia last season.
Willis has managed 58 appearances in senior football away from our shores, netting 23 goals in the process.
