Maria Farrugia put on an inspiring performance to lead Sheffield United to their first win in this season’s Barclays Women’s Championship campaign.
The Malta international scored twice as the Blades defeated Blackburn Rovers 2-1, to clinch their first three points at Ewood Park.
Farrugia, who hit the crossbar in this match, has now scored four goals in her last four appearances for Sheffield United.
The Gozitan-born player will now join the Malta squad for the Italy friendly before resuming her Sheffield United commitments with a home game against London City, on November 2.
