Tennis player Francesca Curmi will have a shot at the W50 Funchal title after booking her place in Sunday’s final.
Curmi, ranked 417 in the WTA, will take on Kristina Dmitruk of Belarus (ranked 347) at noon.
The Maltese player managed to fend off Britain’s representative Jodie Burrage, sitting 295th in the rankings, in Saturday’s semi-final.
After losing the first 6-4, Curmi came from behind to win 7-5 and 6-1 the following couple of sets.
En route to the final, Curmi advanced at the expense of France’s Yasmine Mansouri (ranked 322) and Ukraine’s Daria Snigur (ranked 144).
