Valletta FC have agreed to sign forward Andrea Zammit from Birkirkara, the Times of Malta can confirm.
The Citizens, who are currently leading the way in the Challenge League, are determined to win promotion back into the Premier League and have been working hard in the past few weeks to further strengthen their squad.
Coach Thane Micallef set his sights on bringing into his squad the talented Andrea Zammit who has struggled for first-team football at Premier League club Birkirkara this season.
Micallef has already worked with Zammit when the Malta U-21 forward was on the books of Valletta FC from January 2022 before he eventually moved to Italian side Messina.
Sources close to Valletta FC said that a verbal agreement has been reached between the two clubs and are hopeful that the transfer will be completed in the coming hours.
Should this transfer go through Valletta will be signing one of the most promising players in Maltese football.
During the past 12 months, Zammit has shone for the Malta U-21 national team. He became the most prolific goalscorer with the team, scoring nine goals in 24 appearances.
