Ħamrun Spartans continued to strengthen their squad with the signing of Croatian winger Miheal Klepac, the Times of Malta can confirm.
The Spartans have been one of the most active sides during the January transfer window as they look to put behind them the disappointing performance in the Opening Round and try and keep themselves in contention to defend their title crown with a strong showing in the Closing Round.
Coach Alessandro Zinnari was keen to bring in another winger to his squad and the club put their eyes on Croatian winger Klepac.
The 27-year-old spent the majority of his career in Croatia where he was on the books of NK Osijek, NK Dugopolje, and NK Rudes among others.
In January 2019, Klepac decided to continue his career in Bosnia Herzegovina where he decided to join top side Zeljeznicar.
The following summer Klepac moved to Slovenia where he donned the colours of second division side NK Aluminij.
In January 2021, Klepac moved to Slovenian top-flight side NS Mura and helped them win the league championship.
From there, he moved to Switzerland with Yverdon Sport before moving to Uzbekistan where he played for six months with OKMK Olmaliq.
The Croatian winger is expected to arrive in Malta on Friday. While Klepac is ineligible to play a part in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Birkirkara, he is set to make his debut against Żabbar St Patrick in the FA Trophy on Wednesday.
