Andrew Cohen has been named as the new coach of Balzan FC following the departure of Daryl Willard, the Premier League club announced.
Balzan are passing through a very difficult season as the Reds finished second from bottom at the end of the Opening Round and are holding the same position after four matches of the Closing Round.
The club has now decided to effect a coaching change for a third time this season and have appointed Cohen in charge of the first team.
“Balzan F.C. is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Cohen as Balzan’s first team coach for the next 18 months,” the Premier League club said in a statement.
“Andrew takes over from Daryl Willard who decided to step down from the role.
“We wish Andrew the best of luck in coaching and guiding our first team whilst also wishing Daryl all the best for his future.”
Balzan had appointed Dave Rogers as first-team coach at the start of the season but the English coach stepped down from his post in December due to personal reasons.
Willard was named caretaker coach and put in charge of the first team at the start of the Closing Round.
However, his tenure lasted for six matches as the Englishman has been replaced by Cohen.
Cohen is seen as one of the most promising young coaches in Maltese football and started the season at the helm of GĹĽira United.
However, the former Hibernians midfielder stepped down from his post at the end of the Opening Round first phase after the Maroons missed out on a place in the Top Six.
Now, Cohen will be looking forward to lifting Balzan from the bottom end of the standings and try and help them avoid the drop.
