Players from the Malta women’s national team paid a special visit to the Sacred Heart College in St Julian’s as part of the calendar of events for the Malta Football Association’s 125th anniversary.
The students had the opportunity to meet the players ahead of their upcoming UEFA Women’s Nations League double-header against Georgia, with the first match taking place in Tbilisi on Friday, before the two sides meet again at the Centenary Stadium on April 8.
For the visit, the players were also joined by 125th anniversary ambassador and former women’s national team player Dorianne Theuma.
Theuma has the most caps and goals scored in the history of the women’s national team. Malta Football Association Director of Women’s Football Pierre Brincat was also present.
Upon arrival, the players met with the school’s Head and Deputy Head Team, together with other members of the Sacred Heart College’s top management.
Following that, the National Team players went to the school’s grounds to speak about their experience and journey in football.
This was followed by a question-and-answer session with the students, during which they learned more about what it takes to succeed in women’s football.

The players then took to the pitch for a fun playing session with the girls. The students were divided into two teams, with four National Team players joining each team, allowing the young girls to play alongside their idols and experience a game from a whole new perspective.
The event was capped off with an opportunity for the students to get the players’ signatures, wrapping up a wonderful and memorable experience for all involved.
