Żabbar St Patrick and Mosta were fined by the Malta Football Association following their involvement in the mass brawl that happened at the end of the 360 Sports Malta Premier clash at the Gozo Stadium last Saturday.
Mosta came back from a goal down to score two injury-time goals and secure a 2-1 win over Żabbar St Patrick to book their place into the Closing Round Top Six.
But at the final whistle players and officials from both clubs were engaged in a huge brawl that lasted several minutes with the police struggling to restore order at the Gozo Stadium.
Earlier this week, the Disciplinary Commissioner of the Malta FA issued suspensions to a number of players and officials from both clubs for their involvement in the brawl.
The MFA had announced that more charges were issued against both clubs and were discussed during sitting on Thursday night.
In its ruling, the MFA Board of Discipline, Control and Ethics decided to hand a fine of 5,000 euros to both clubs.
Added to that, the MFA board decided to dock three points to both clubs, but this ruling has been suspended until the end of the season.
This means that at the moment both clubs will have no points deducted and the punishment will come into effect if either Żabbar St Patrick or Mosta will be involved in a similar incident from now till the end of the season.
