The Arena Combat Sports Promotions are set to bring high-energy bouts to Malta in collaboration with WKA International and the Malta Boxing Association
Malta is set to take centre stage in the world of combat sports this summer, as the Arena Combat Sports Promotions hosts one of its biggest events yet – an open-air boxing spectacle featuring 24 thrilling fights between local and international athletes.
The event is set to take place on Saturday, June 21, at the historic Fortini Ground in Vittoriosa, and the event will showcase a diverse fight card of amateur and semi-pro fighters competing under the auspices of the WKA International and the Malta Boxing Association.
This international collaboration not only elevates the quality of competition but also places Malta firmly on the map as a destination for elite-level boxing.
“We’ve worked hard over the past three years to grow this promotion into something special,” said a spokesperson from the Arena Combat Sports Promotions.
“This event will feature fighters from Malta, Italy, Greece, and beyond – all coming together to test their skills, represent their clubs, and put on an unforgettable show for fans.”
Among the most anticipated matchups are Lydon Xuereb taking on Filippo Pezzi for the MBA title, Aidan Vassallo will face Riccardo Brazzale for the MBA Grand Title, while Blake Theuma will fight against Mattheos Kodos for the WKA International Title belt.
The other main fight will see Marsil Abdilla challenging Nelson Testa for the Arena title.
In addition to the main event, a weigh-in ceremony will take place on June 20 at St Joseph High Road, Ħamrun, and will be streamed live across social platforms, providing fans an early taste of the hype and intensity leading up to fight night.
In a statement, the Arena Combat Sports Promotions emphasised that the event is fully licensed, insured, and certified with A&CE, including all required risk assessments, ensuring safety, professionalism, and compliance at every level.
“As Malta continues to embrace sports tourism and international collaboration, events like this one are proving that combat sports can be a unifying, thrilling, and culturally enriching experience,” the organisers said.
“The Arena Combat Sports Promotions is not just building a stronger fight scene – it’s helping to build bridges between communities and countries.
“On June 21, the spotlight will be on Birgu.”
