Floriana are among the seeded teams in the UEFA Conference League first qualifying round draw while Birkirkara face a trip to Eastern Europe as the draw of the UEFA competition is held on Tuesday.
Floriana, who qualified for the competition after winning a play-off against Sliema Wanderers, were pitted in Group 5 and are among the five seeded teams in the pot.
The Greens could face two teams from British football tradition: Cliftonville, from Northern Ireland, and Haverfordwest County, from Wales, the latter being the former club of Malta defender Luke Tabone.
The other teams in the unseeded side are Nomme Kalju, of Estonia, who are midway through their season and just one point off top spot, and FC Malisheva, of Kosovo.
On the other hand, Birkirkara, who are back in European football after placing second in the Premier League and the FA Trophy, face a tougher draw on Tuesday.
The Stripes could be heading to a former Soviet republic as they could be paired with FC Petrocub, of Moldova, or Armenia’s FC Urartu. They could face a very long trip to Kazakhstan’s FC Ordabasy. The other possible opponent for Birkirkara are Montengro’s FK Decic.
The UEFA Conference League draw will be held on Tuesday at 4pm.
