Watch: Former Borussia Dortmund defender Mbende heads to Valletta FC

Valletta FC have bolstered their defence with the capture of Cameroon defender Emmanuel Mbende.

Mbende arrives at the Premier League club with a very interesting CV as the powerful defender came through the youth ranks of German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

 Between 2011 and 2015, Mbende featured for Dortmund’s U-18 and U-19 selections.

In 2016, he moved to England where he signed for one season with Birmingham City and featured for their U-23 side.

After these experiences, he had spells at the German side Chemnitzer and SC Cambuur in the Netherlands, before finally moving to Italy.

In the Italian league, he donned the colours of Catania and Viterbese among others.

Last summer Mbende moved to North Macedonia, where he signed for Gostivar.

Here, Mbende made 27 appearances in the Macedonian top flight.

Mbende is Valletta’s fourth signing following the arrival of Brazilian goalkeeper Adilson Maringa, US defender Shaft Brewer, and midfielder Yannick Yankam.
