Ħamrun Spartans sign versatile Italian defender Vincenzo Polito

Ħamrun Spartans have announced the signing of Italian defender Vincenzo Polito.

The 26-year-old defender becomes the latest acquisition of the Malta champions who are currently stepping up their preparations ahead of next week’s UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie against Lithuanian champions FK Zalgiris.

The Italian defender is known for his versatility as he is capable of playing across all positions in the team’s defence and will add more options for coach Giacomo Modica.

Modica targeted Polito as he knows well the qualities of the player, having worked with him at ACR Messina during season 2017-18.

At Messina, Polito made 42 appearances and scored one goal.

During the last few years, Polito donned the colours of Stabia, Gela, Cavese, Viterbese and Potenza.

Last season, Polito moved to Spal, where he made nine appearances.

Throughout his career, Polito enjoyed a lot of experience playing in the Italian Serie C, where he amassed 80 appearances and scored two goals.
