Ħamrun Spartans have announced the signing of Senegalese-born forward Saliou Thioune.
The 21-year-old forward bolsters the Reds’ forward line as they finalise their preparations for next week’s UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie against Lithuanian champions FK Zalgiris.
Saliou came through the youth ranks of Cittadella and after representing them at the U-17 and U-19 level.
The young forward, who holds an Italian passport, made 31 appearances with the U-19 side and scored 12 goals.
From there he moved to Switzerland where he joined Yverdon Sport and amassed ten appearances, scoring one goal.
Saliou spent the past two seasons in Switzerland as he was on the books of FC Paradiso with whom he made 19 appearances and scored two goals before being loaned out to FC Locarno where he made 15 appearances and netted two goals.
At Ħamrun Spartans, Saliou will be boosting a forward line that has seen the arrival of Ivory Coast forward N’Dri Koffi who replaced Brazilian forward Raphael Lopes Silva who is linked with a move to the Indonesian League.
