Malta international defender Kurt Shaw will be continuing his career in Italy as he has agreed to sign with Sorrento Calcio.
Shaw is regarded as one of Malta’s most talented central defenders, and he has always harboured a dream of pursuing his football career away from our shores.
Last season, the 26-year-old played a big part in helping Hibernians win the FA Trophy, as he netted the winner in a 2-1 victory over Birkirkara in the final that sealed the Paolites’ return to European football.
Shaw’s contract with Hibernians expired at the end of the season, and while the Paolites were ready to offer him a new deal, the former Sliema Wanderers defender was determined to try his luck away from our shores.
Italian Serie C side Sorrento Calcio approached Shaw and offered him a contract for the upcoming season.
Earlier this week, Shaw traveled to Italy to undergo a medical examination and on Tuesday, he put pen to paper on a two-year contract. Shaw will now start his pre-season preparations with the Italian club.
During his career, Shaw has made 134 appearances in the Maltese Premier League, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists.
The talented defender has also collected 29 appearances for the Malta national team.
