Alexander Satariano is set to continue his career abroad after reaching an agreement with his club Birkirkara, to move to a new club in Greece.
The Times of Malta spoke to Satariano’s representative Luigi Fenech, who confirmed that he’s on the verge of completing a move to Greece; however would not comment further at this stage and urged the media to exercise caution before publishing stories which have not been verified.
Satariano is coming from an impressive campaign with Birkirkara as he turned out to be the team’s stand-out performer and helped them reach the Premier League Top Four final and the FA Trophy final.
His performances were rewarded by the MFPA and the Malta FA as he was named the Player of the Year.
“Birkirkara FC can confirm that club captain Alexander Satariano will be leaving the club after the club accepted his request to part ways in order to pursue a new adventure abroad,” the club said in a statement.
“The club was fully cooperative with Alexander’s wishes and extends its full support as he takes this next step in his career.
“Since joining the Stripes on 26 August 2023, Alexander made 65 appearances, including two in European competitions and scored six goals. His presence on and off the pitch quickly made him a key figure within the squad.
“Appointed captain in January 2025, he led the team with passion, commitment, and energy – playing a crucial role in helping the club secure qualification to European competitions last season.”
On his part, Birkirkara president Michael Valenzia described Satariano as a true leader.
“Alexander has been a true leader for this team, both on and off the pitch. His quality, character, and drive made a strong impact in a relatively short period of time,” he said.
“While it is always difficult to part ways with a player of his calibre, we fully respected his desire to explore a new challenge abroad. This was a possibility we had anticipated, and we are already working behind the scenes to bring in the right profile to strengthen the squad ahead of the coming season.”
The Birkirkara FC statement concluded by showing gratitude to Satariano’s commitment towards the club.
“Alexander’s dedication, professionalism, and electrifying performances made him a fan favourite,” it said.
“As he begins this new chapter, the club would like to thank him for his sterling service and wish him the very best of luck in the future.”
