Kim Camilleri Lagana provided a lot of satisfaction for the Malta weightlifting national team at the European Youth and U-15 Championships.

The young weightlifter delivered a fine performance in a highly-contested international field to return home with the bronze medal in the Clean & Jerk category.

Competing in the finals against 16 top weightlifters, Camilleri Lagana faced early adversity during the Snatch phase, but displayed exceptional mental strength and composure.

Refusing to be rattled, she regrouped with remarkable focus and determination, qualities that have quickly become her trademark.

In the Clean & Jerk, Camilleri Lagana’s resilience paid off.

With a powerful lift of 88kg, she secured third place, finishing ahead of athletes from European weightlifting giants including Ukraine, Turkey, and Italy.

The battle for the podium was intense, with only a few kilogrammes separating the top contenders, making her achievement even more impressive.

Despite her young age, Camilleri Lagana showcased the heart of a true competitor. Her medal marks a proud moment for Malta and underscores the rising standard of Maltese weightlifting on the international stage.

Team Malta’s campaign at the Championships continues on Saturday as Aaliyah Gatt takes the stage in the 63kg Youth category.
