Gżira United have added another goalkeeper to their ranks, announcing the arrival of Edoardo Colombo from San Marino.

Colombo, 24, is the number one choice for the San Marino national team with whom he has collected 13 caps.

He was part of the San Marino team that made history, after earning promotion into League C of the UEFA Nations League.

Colombo has also played in the opening World Cup qualifications including in one of their latest outings – a 4-0 defeat against Austria in which he denied former Inter forward Marko Arnautovic from the penalty spot.

Despite being born in Ravenna, Italy, Colombo acquired the San Marino citizenship through his grandfather and started playing for the youth teams before making his way up to the senior selection.

At club level, he was nurtured at the Juventus academy before playing for multiple teams including Rimini, Torres, Arezzo and Cavese.

Earlier in this summer transfer window, the Maroons had already brought in another goalkeeper in Alexander Lubik who last season was on the books of Melita.
