Stefan Giglio is back at his hometown club Valletta FC, after he was appointed as the Deputy Head for Competitive Teams, the Premier League club announced.
The former Malta international is regarded as a legendary player with Valletta FC having enjoyed a golden spell at the club.
A Valletta nursery product, Giglio went on to establish himself in the Citizens’ first-team, helping the club to win five Premier League titles and four FA Trophies as well as the Super Cup, five times, and the unique Centenary Cup in 2001.
“Stefan Giglio joins Valletta FC as the Deputy Head for Competitive Teams, supporting Mister Alessandro Piscina in the setup of our Gen V programme. A true Valletta FC product, Stefan distinguished himself both as a club and a Malta national team player,” the Premier League club said in a statement.
“Having won numerous honours with Valletta FC during his playing career and also having been successful at international club level, Stefan now brings his winning mentality and deep club knowledge to our GenV programme.
“Stefan will focus on mentoring our next generation, developing their tactical awareness, honing their technical skills, and instilling the winning culture that defines Valletta FC in our young players.
“Stefan’s appointment strengthens our commitment to nurturing homegrown talent through experienced leadership. His understanding of both the club’s values and modern football development will be instrumental in guiding our Competitive Teams toward future success.”
Apart from his spell with Valletta FC, Giglio also had a spell in the Bulgarian league where e he was on the books of CSKA Sofia and Lokomotvi Sofia.
