Sliema Wanderers have agreed terms to sign Mali-born midfielder Boubakarry Diarra, the Times of Malta can confirm.
The 31-year-old Frenchman is no stranger to Maltese football, having spent a spell with Mosta FC in 2022.
The Wanderers have been very active in the transfer market this summer as coach Paul Zammit has revitalised his group of overseas players with some quality signings.
Diarra is likely to give further strength to the team’s engine room, which already boasts players of the calibre of Steve Pisani, Roko Prsa, Miguel Baggio, and Wescley.
Diarra arrives in Malta with an interesting CV, having played in the youth ranks of Torino during his teenage years. He then went to Lithuania, where he donned the colours of Kruoja, before spending a spell in Portugal with lower-tier sides.
Before he arrived in Malta in January 2022, Diarra played in Kuwait with Kazma.
Following his departure from Mosta in 2023, he headed to Indonesia, where he played for PSIS Semarang, under the charge of former Valletta FC legend Gilbert Agius.
