Haley Bugeja enjoyed an impressive pre-season with Inter Women as the Italian side gears up for a historic campaign that includes their debut in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Inter will open their European journey on August 27 in Round 2, where they will face Norwegian side SK Brann.

A victory would see them progress to the group final against either Valur (Iceland) or Sporting Braga (Portugal).

Should Inter finish second or third in the mini-tournament, they would still extend their European run in the newly-created UEFA Women’s Europa Cup.

Before turning their attention to Europe, Inter face Genoa in the Serie A Women’s Cup, a new competition designed as a curtain-raiser ahead of the Serie A championship, which kicks off in October.

The tie will also see Bugeja go head-to-head with fellow Malta internationals Emma Lipman and Rachel Cuschieri, both of whom feature for Genoa.

Bugeja has been in excellent form throughout pre-season, featuring in seven friendlies and finding the net four times.

She opened her account with a brace against Switzerland’s Young Boys, added another goal in a 2-2 draw with Roma, and struck again in a tournament semi-final clash with Atletico Madrid.

The 21-year-old forward has been a key figure in Inter’s preparations, her sharp performances underlining her importance to the squad ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign.

Bugeja’s contract was recently extended by four years, as she looks primed to repay the club’s faith.

Haley Bugeja was a guest on our podcast, announcing her Inter contract renewal.
