Haley Bugeja’s Inter Femminile side were drawn to face Scottish side Hibernian in the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup.
Inter had started their European campaign in the UEFA Champions League but their hopes of prolonging their place in the elite European competition were ended by Norwegian side Brann, who beat them 2-1 in their opening group match last week.
The Nerazzurre somewhat made up for that disappointment on Saturday when inspired by Haley Bugeja they brushed aside Iceland’s Valur 4-1.
Bugeja put her team on their way with a spectacular opening goal that once more underlined her immense talent.
Having ended their in the group, Inter dropped to the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup and will now take on Scottish side Hibernian.
Like Inter, the Scottish side opened their European adventure in the UEFA Women’s Champions League but were beaten by Danish side Fortuna in their opening group match.
However, the Edinburgh-based side won the third-placed play-off against Apollon Ladies, of Cyprus, 3-2 to seal their place in the Europa Cup.
The first qualifying round of the Europa Cup will be held next month, with the first leg scheduled for September 10 or 11 and the return leg on September 17 or 18.
