Brian Cini to feature in snooker’s UK Championship qualifiers

Maltese snooker player Brian Cini will be featuring in the prestigious UK Championship, as he is eligible to feature in the qualification rounds.

The list of eligible players was released by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Associaton (WPBSA) and the World Snooker Tour (WST).

Cini’s eligibility comes after reaching the final of the IBSF World Snooker Championships where he lost to China’s Yang Gao, who since then turned professional.

The qualifying phase is pencilled for November 22-27 in Wigan. 16 players will qualify to join the 16 professional players that have already been guaranteed automatic qualification to the finals, held between November 29-December 7.

One of snooker’s longest running events, the UK Championship is part of the Triple Crown Series alongside the World Championship and Masters tournaments.

Cini, the local defending champion, featured in the Crucible qualifications, losing to China’s Yuchen Wang in the first round back in April.
