Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill said Friday he is focusing on football amid reports the NFL has launched an investigation into domestic violence allegations against him.
The NFL is reportedly investigating after TMZ reported this week that Hill’s estranged wife, Keeta Vaccaro, accused him in sealed records in a divorce filing of being physically violent toward her eight times during their 17-month marriage.
Hill’s attorney, Julius Collins, said the allegations are untrue.
“My focus is on playing ball and spending time with my kids and doing what I’m best at and providing for my family,” Hill told reporters on Friday, declining to comment on the specific allegations.
“All the noise, I feel like if you allow that kind of stuff to get in the way of what you’re trying to do, it can only cloud what you’re really trying to get accomplished.”
Vaccaro’s lawyer, Evan R. Marks, told the Miami Herald that she had sworn that the allegations contained the divorce petition were true and correct.
Regardless of the outcome of that case and even if there is no criminal investigation, NFL rules allow the league to investigate independently and discipline Hill under the league’s personal conduct policy if that is deemed warranted.
While trade speculation has swirled around Hill, he said he is happy to stay in Miami.
“I would love to be here,” he said. “My family is here. My kids are here. But it is the NFL. Anything can happen.”
