The Malta Premier League announced that Saturday’s matches, scheduled to be played at the National Stadium, have been switched to the Centenary Stadium.
In a statement, the Malta Premier League said that the Malta Football Association informed them that due to the forecasted rainfall over the weekend, the National Stadium will not be available on Saturday and Sunday.
For this reason, they made arrangements to switch Saturday’s matches between Ħamrun Spartans and Hibs and Floriana vs Mosta to the Centenary Stadium.
“On Thursday, the Malta FA informed us that, due to forecasted rainfall over the weekend and concerns regarding pitch conditions from previous matchdays, the National Stadium will not be available for use this coming weekend,” the Malta Premier League said in a statement.
“Initially, we were requested to play our matches at the Centenary Stadium at 2pm and 4pm respectively.
“However, we raised our objections to this proposal and formally requested the Malta FA to consider swapping our fixtures with those of the Challenge League.
“Following discussions with both the Malta FA and the Challenge League representatives, we are pleased to inform you that a mutual agreement has been reached.
“The Challenge League has kindly agreed to reschedule their matches to earlier time slots, thus allowing our fixtures to proceed later in the day.”

It’s 2025 and we still don’t have a decent national football stadium let alone a football academy
