Birkirkara boosted their hopes of a Top Six finish with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Żabbar St Patrick.
Lucas Macula and Kemar Reid provided the goals that earned their team a priceless win that lifts them level with fifth-placed Marsaxlokk on 13 points, two clear of Sliema Wanderers.
The match matured into a tight encounter, with scoring chances a rarity.
Birkirkara looked to struggle to show any attacking threat, with Żabbar seemingly looking more dangerous when pushing forward, and early on Brian Gambarte found Cejas, who fired over from inside the area.
The game finally came to life four minutes from the break when Birkirkara took the lead.
Leandro Lacunza sent a delightful pass into the path of Lucas Macula, and the Stripes forward chipped the ball over the onrushing Luca Camilleri to fire his team ahead.
After the break, Żabbar SP tried to step up their game, and substitute Jurgen Pisani came close when he dashed inside the area but fired wide.
But that was as good as it got, as the match remained a drab affair with Birkirkara focused on preserving their advantage while Żabbar SP remained bereft of any attacking punch.
Birkirkara sealed the points in stoppage time when Kemar Reid used all his strength to win the ball and fire past Camilleri.
