Sliema Wanderers come from behind to overcome Hibs and seal Top Six berth

Sliema Wanderers came from a goal down to overcome the challenge of Hibernians by the odd goal in five at the Centenary Stadium.

It was an important victory for the Blues who have now assured themselves in the Top Six with a match to spare.

The Wanderers moved fourth on 18 points, one behind Hamrun and four behind Valletta and Floriana.

Hibernians, on the other hand, are currently sixth on 14 points but face an anxious wait on whether they will make the Top Six as they must win their final match against Marsaxlokk and await the result of the match between Birkirkara and Ħamrun Spartans to see if they will make the cut.

Hibs had started the match brightly and took the lead on 19 minutes through Mailson Lima.

But the Wanderers turned the score in their favour thanks to goals by Miguel Baggio on 31 minutes and Sulahmana Bah two minutes later.

Six minutes from time, Bah extended the lead for Sliema.

Substitute Lyon Abela reducing the gap for Hibernians three minutes from time but it was too little to late as Sliema held on to the win.
