Mġarr United continued their perfect start to their Assikura Women’s League campaign after securing their eighth consecutive win on Thursday.
The Greens have won all league games so far, as they lead the standings on 24 points.
In addition, Ryan Vella’s side will be buoyed by the return of star player Brenda Borg, who was introduced in the second-half after a long absence due to a serious knee injury.
Borg, who is also a Malta women player, marked her return with a goal – Mġarr’s sixth.
Argentine forward Maria Hernandez and Alejandra Villegas from Colombia scored twice each. The other scorers were Yulya Carella and French forward Josline N’Guessan.
Swieqi United cancelled a one-goal deficit to beat Birkirkara on Saturday’s first match.
The Stripes drew first blood inside the opening six minutes through Momo Ueda.
However, Swieqi managed to score twice in a span of four minutes through Shona Zammit and Michaela Cachia before half-time.
After the change of ends, Salamatu Abdulai scored twice – first from the penalty spot before extending Swieqi’s lead a little later.

In the other match of the weekend, Hibernians eased past Valletta to keep up with Swieqi on 18 points – trailing leaders Mġarr by six.
The Paolites wrapped up the win inside the opening half with a five-goal lead, with a brace from Leah Ayres and goals from Chisha Zulu, Cali Schechinger and Suzanne Farrugia Sacco.
After the break, Zulu and Sylivia Kabene sealed Hibernians’ win.
