Sliema Wanderers part ways with French midfielder Boubakary Diarra

Sliema Wanderers have released French midfielder Boubakary Diarra, the Times of Malta can confirm.

Sources have told the Times of Malta that the powerful defensive midfielder has decided to end his spell in Maltese football due to personal reasons.

Diarra joined the Wanderers at the start of the season for his second spell in Maltese football.

The Mali-born midfielder made eight appearances with the Wanderers, providing one assist.

However, it is understood that the player has decided to return home as he has struggled away from his family.

The Wanderers accepted the player’s wish and agreed terms to terminate his contract.

For Diarra, Sliema Wanderers were the second Maltese club for whom he played.

In 2022, Diarra, who has two international caps with Mali, had a short spell with Mosta FC.
