Mġarr United have dropped their first points of the season but they stay unbeaten after a goalless stalemate against title rivals Hibernians.

The two teams met days after the Greens won the Malta FA Jubilee Cup at the expense of the Paolites at the National Stadium.

Ryan Vella’s Mġarr remain first, now on 28 points and see their lead cut to six after Swieqi United’s victory over Valletta.

Hibernians, on their part, drop to third on 20 points – trailing leaders Mġarr by eight.

Swieqi broke little sweat to beat Valletta and move to 22 points.

Serbian midfielder Andela Kricak sealed the points on her own, with four goals inside the opening 35 minutes of the match.

After the break, the Owls added a couple of goals to wrap up the win.

Valletta remain bottom with a single point to show for their efforts.

Elsewhere, Birkirkara (fourth place) put some daylight between them and San Ġwann after the Stripes scored three late goals to move to 12 points.

Patricia Lamanna broke the deadlock 20 minutes from time before Japanese midfielder Momo Ueda struck twice, including a goal deep in stoppage time to seal the win.

San Ġwann, on the other hand, remain fifth with 4 points.
