Brazilian striker Andre renews Gżira United contract

Defender Lennon Thompson joins Balzan

Brazilian forward Andre Pena Da Costa has pledged his future to Gżira United after he agreed terms on penning a new contract with the Premier League side.

Andre joined Gżira United last summer and has been an important fixture for the Maroons this season.

His performances have impressed Gżira United’s top hierarchy who decided to keep the forward for another season.

“We are proud to announce that our striker Andre Carlos extended his contract for another season,” the Premier League club said in a statement.

On his part, club president Sharlon Pace heaped praise on the Brazilian forward.

“Andre showed that he is one of the top strikers in Malta and this is our statement that next season we want to build a better team keeping our best players,” Pace said.

“I’m sure that Andre will score many more goals during the next months.”

Meanwhile, Gżira United also announced that they have parted ways with two players.

Canadian defender Lennon Thompson will continue the season with Balzan after a transfer was concluded between the two clubs.

“Gzira United FC have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Lennon Thompson,” Gżira United said.

“Thank you, Lennon, and good luck in your future adventures!”

On the other hand, Matthias Conti has left the club after reaching an agreement with the club to rescind his contract.
