Birkirkara FC are set for a major club overhaul in the coming weeks, and on Monday, they announced that they have terminated the contract of three overseas players.
In a statement, the Premier League club announced that they had parted ways with defender Stefan Marjanovic, midfielder Pablo Gaitan, and forward Abubakar Asumah.
Marjanovic joined Birkirkara last summer, while Gaitan had been on the books of the Stripes since the start of last season and helped them reach the final of both the Malta Premier League Final Four and the FA Trophy.
On the other hand, Asumah has only been at Birkirkara for the past two months. He had started his spell emphatically, scoring four goals against Tarxien but failed to maintain the momentum.
“Birkirkara FC can officially announce the termination of defender Stefan Marjanovic, midfielder Pablo Gaitan, and forward Abubakar Asumah.
These decisions form part of a wider squad overhaul that will continue to take place over the coming two weeks, with other players set to depart.
“On the other hand, the Club will announce new signings during the first week of January, with agreements already reached with several new players.
“The Club would like to thank Stefan, Pablo, and Abubakar for their service and commitment to the Club, and wishes them the very best in their future careers.”
