Ħamrun Spartans part ways with Bosnian striker Smajlagic

Ħamrun Spartans have reached an agreement with striker Semir Smajlagic to go separate ways, the Premier League club announced.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina striker joined the Spartans last September and was part of the team that played in the League Phase of the UEFA Conference League.

Smajlagic put his name on the scoresheet during the historic 3-1 win over Lincoln Red Imps, of Gibraltar, which was the first-ever win for a Maltese club in the League Phase of a UEFA club competition.

“By mutual agreement, Hamrun Spartans and Semir Smajlagić have decided to terminate their contract,” Ħamrun Spartans said in a statement.

“The Club would like to sincerely thank Semir for his professionalism, commitment, and valuable contribution during his time with Hamrun Spartans, and wishes him every success in the next chapter of his career.”

The 27-year-old forward made 17 appearances with the Malta champions scoring three goals.
