Gżira United have snapped up two important signings ahead of the second part of the season as they secured the services of young midfielder Neil Cassar, from Floriana, and Serbian defender Mihajlo Stojanovic.
The Maroons are looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance in the Opening Round of the YoHealth Malta Premier, where they ended up playing in the Bottom Six.
The acquisition of Cassar is a further confirmation of Gżira United’s policy of bringing young Maltese talent to their squad and provides more local talent for coach Darren Abdilla.
The young midfielder has been highly-rated in the past few years and is seen to have all the requisites to become an important member of the first-team squad in the coming months.
On the other hand, Gżira United were keen to bolster their squad and have stepped up their efforts to secure the services of Serbian defender Stojanovic.
The 23-year-old has spent the majority of his career in Serbia and is set for his first spell in another European country.
Stojanovic is set to be the first of several foreign players engaged by Gżira United this month as theyh look to revamp their squad.
The Maroons have already parted ways with three overseas players, namely Jork Becerra, Wallace Bonilha and Lennon Thompson as well as Mathias Conti. On the other hand, the club have put Pablo Fonseca on their transfer list.
