Valletta FC confirmed that they have reached an agreement to part ways with Brazilian striker Jefferson Assis.
The Brazilian forward arrived at the Premier League club last summer but struggled to repeat the prolific form he was known for during his spell with Gżira United earlier in his career.
Last December, the Brazilian had posted on his social media and revealed the struggles he was going through, hinting that he was considering starting a new adventure in January.
“Valletta Football Club announces that it has reached a mutual agreement with Jefferson de Assis to terminate his contract,” the Premier League club said in a statement.
“At Valletta FC, we believe that before being footballers, our players are human beings.
“Football is a game of moments, positive and difficult, and responsibility is always collective. No individual defines success alone, and no individual carries disappointment alone. The role of a striker is a very demanding one, often judged on fine margins and decisive moments.
“We acknowledge Jefferson’s commitment, honesty, effort and professionalism shown while representing our badge. Facing challenges openly and continuing to work through them requires strength and character.
“We wish him well in his professional journey ahead.”
