Birkirkara have reached an agreement to bring back defender Alessandro Coppola to the club.
In a statement, the Premier League club announced that the towering defender has reached full agreement with the Stripes and is set to be announced as a new signing on Tuesday.
“Birkirkara FC is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with FC Arzignano Valchiampo for the permanent transfer of Alessandro Coppola,” the club said in a statement.
“Further details regarding his return will be announced tomorrow, as the player will be officially unveiled as a new Birkirkara FC player.”
Coppola was part of the Birkirkara squad last season, and helped them reach the Malta Premier League Top Four final as well as the FA Trophy final.
However, at the end of the season, Coppola decided to seek pastures new and returned to Italian football, where he was on the books of Arzignano Valchiampo, in the Italian Serie D.
However, the Stripes, who are going through a very difficult spell in the Maltese Premier League, approached the player for a return to the club, and the 25-year-old accepted, returning to work under coach Gianluca Festa.
Coppola spent three years with Birkirkara, during which he helped the club win the FA Trophy.
