Ħamrun Spartans vs Floriana moved to Centenary Stadium, to kick off at 8pm

The Premier League clash between Ħamrun Spartans and Floriana, scheduled for Wednesday, has been moved back by 30 minutes and to another venue, the Malta Premier League announced.

The Spartans and Floriana were due to face off at the National Stadium, with kick-off time set at 7.30pm.

However, although the Malta Premier League failed to give any details, it is understood that the rainfall that fell on the islands on Wednesday was a contributing factor to move the match to another venue.

This is because the National Stadium pitch is in a very poor condition, and the additional rainfall that fell on Wednesday has made the surface not fit to host a football match.

Floriana need just a point from the match to ensure they win the Opening Round, while the Spartans need to win at all costs to keep alive their hopes of battling for top spot until the final fixture next weekend.
