Guillaumier completes Ħamrun Spartans return

Matthew Guillaumieri in his previous Ħamrun Spartans' spell.

Malta captain Matthew Guillaumier has returned to Ħamrun Spartans, marking his comeback to Maltese football, the Times of Malta can confirm.

The Maltese midfielder had been without a club in recent weeks following his departure from Greek side Panseirrakos, with whom he began the 2025/26 campaign.

During his spell in the Greek Super League, Guillaumier made eight league appearances and featured once in the domestic cup.

Before moving to Greece, the Malta international spent two seasons in Poland’s top flight with Stal Mielec, where he played 67 matches, scoring five goals and providing five assists.

Guillaumier previously represented Ħamrun Spartans between 2020 and 2022, before returning for the 2022/2023 season.

Across his time with the club, he recorded 11 goals and 11 assists in 68 appearances, helping the Spartans secure two Maltese Premier League titles while also helping them to reach the Play-Off round of the UEFA Conference League.

Ħamrun are aiming to strengthen their midfield during the January transfer window as part of a broader squad overhaul, with the objective of successfully retaining their Maltese Premier League crown.

Guillaumier is the second midfielder to join the Spartans this month after they agreed a deal to bring in Danilo Bulevardi.
