Hibernians suffered a significant blow following the news that prolific forward Lucas Villela has decided to part ways with the club after he received a lucrative offer from abroad.
The Paola club issued a statement to confirm that the Brazilian forward had reached an agreement with the club to be released from his contract and seek a new adventure outside the Maltese Premier League.
The Times of Malta can confirm that the player is joining Kuwait club Al-Fahaheel.
“Hibernians FC and Lucas Villela have mutually agreed to part ways following an opportunity for the player to continue his career abroad,” the Premier League club said in a statement.
“It was never the club’s intention to part ways with Lucas, however, the offer presented to him was a significant and life-changing opportunity, leaving very little room for discussion.
“While the club was determined not to stand in the way of his development and future, it also worked to safeguard its own interests in the best possible manner throughout the process.
“We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Lucas for his commitment, professionalism, and dedication during his time at Hibernians FC. We wish him the very best of luck in this new chapter of his career.
“Meanwhile, the club is actively seeking a suitable replacement to strengthen the squad moving forward.”
