The Assikura Women’s League resumes this weekend with the first matchday of 2026.

League leaders Mġarr United will be aiming to maintain their strong advantage at the top, as they currently sit eight points ahead of second-placed Hibernians and nine clear of defending champions Swieqi United, who are third.

The Greens face bottom-placed Valletta, with the Citizens rooted to the foot of the table and on just one point so far this campaign.

Mġarr remain unbeaten with 10 wins from 11 matches, boasting both the best attack and best defence in the league, having scored 37 goals and conceded only three.

Meanwhile, Hibernians take on Birkirkara as they look to keep their faint title hopes alive.

The Paolites have already kicked off their 2026 commitments, playing a friendly against Serie A Femminile side Inter earlier this month.

Hibernians have scored 30 goals and conceded just five in the league so far.

Birkirkara sit fourth on 15 points, with 29 goals scored and 20 conceded.

Last month, the Stripes announced the departure of two of their summer signings, Maya Pellegrini and Patricia Lamanna.

Swieqi United will be seeking a response when they face San Ġwann, following their recent defeat to Mġarr.

San Ġwann lie fifth with four points.
