MD13 gets underway with Birkirkara vs Swieqi United
The Assikura Women’s League returns this Thursday with Matchday 13, highlighted by a key clash between Birkirkara and Swieqi United.
Swieqi, currently in second place, will be aiming to reduce the gap on leaders Mġarr United to six points, although the Greens will still hold a game in hand, with their fixture scheduled for Saturday.
The Owls will once again rely on the attacking threat of Sara Saliba and Salamatu Abdulai as they look to keep any remaining title ambitions alive.
Birkirkara, meanwhile, come into the match encouraged by a strong showing against Hibernians, where they claimed a valuable draw.
The Stripes will hope to build on that performance as they continue their push up the table and target further points against sides above them.
Currently on 16 points, Birkirkara are aiming to close the gap on the top three.
League leaders Mġarr United will look to preserve their commanding position when they face struggling San Ġwann in the final match of the week.
Still unbeaten and having dropped points only once all season, the Greens start as clear favourites to register their 11th win of the campaign.
In the remaining fixture, Hibernians host bottom-placed Valletta, with the Paolites eager to respond after being held to a draw by Birkirkara in their previous outing.
