Falcons and Flyers took all the honours after winning the top matches from the women’s Super League and the National Cup, respectively, at the Cottonera Sports Complex last weekend.
In the women’s Super League, Falcons had to battle more than expected to see off the challenge of Birkirkara 3-1.
Falcons edged a very close first set 25-22 but Birkirkara fought back to take the second set 25-13.
Falcons kept their poise and went on to take the honours when winning the third set 25-22 before sealing victory when topping the fourth set 25-23.
In the National Cup, Flyers knocked out Paola Executive Security 3-0.
Although the final scoreline might suggest that Flyers secured a comfortable win, in reality, they had to battle hard, particularly in the opening two sets.
Flyers secured the first set 25-23, while in the second set, they had to fend off a spirited fightback from the Paola side to win it 26-24.
With two sets to the good, the pressure was off Flyers as they coasted through the third set to win it 25-15.
In the First Division, Mġarr maintained their dominance when they brushed aside Birkirkara Reds 3-0 to maintain their 100 per cent record in the championship.
