A local Inter fan club has been granted a 15-year lease on a government property in building in Valletta.
Inter Club Pupi Zanetti will have exclusive use of the public property, at 7, Old Bakery Street, for its meetings, exhibitions and social events.
The culture ministry said in a statement that the project acknowledges the efforts of voluntary and sports organisations in ensuring healthy and active communities and promoting a collective identity.
Minister Owen Bonnici said the lease was a clear example of how public property could be put to use in a sustainable manner while retaining the urban and historic identity of the capital.
Lands Authority CEO Robert Vella meanwhile said the transfer reflected the authority’s commitment to manage public property in a responsible manner and with a longterm vision through whch buildings can concretely benefit the community.
Inter’s Javier Zanetti, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Giuseppe Bergomi and Giuseppe Baresi all sent a recorded video message that was shown during the press conference marking the transfer.
