The Malta FA and national team fan groups South End Core and Ultras Malta have signed a Memorandum of Understanding covering the upcoming UEFA Nations League Play-off at home to Luxembourg.
The agreement focuses on increased collaboration between the Malta FA and the two fan groups, both in terms of the promotional build-up of the matches, as well as providing the ultimate fan experience at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali for the home match.
The Malta National A Team will be taking on Luxembourg in two vital matches in March, determining whether Malta makes it into League C of the UEFA Nations League. The first leg will be on 26th March 2026 at the National Stadium, with kick-off at 18:00hrs. This will then be followed by a return fixture at the Stade de Luxembourg on 31st March 2026, also kicking off at 18:00hrs.
Speaking during the signing of the agreement, Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo emphasised the importance of the match, presenting a historic opportunity for promotion to League C.
“From the technical side, we have already started preparing for the match, yet also in terms of organisation, we are working with the South End Core and with Ultras Malta so that we can give our all to support our players, pushing them on to provide the best performance possible.”
“At the end of the day, the National Team is the team of the people. We are always open to collaboration, whether that is through South End Core, Ultras Malta, or through other means, always with the aim of supporting our national teams. We need to be present at the stadium and to be in full voice supporting the team,” The Malta FA President continued.
On behalf of South End Core, Louis Agius thanked the Malta FA for its continued support to the group and added that it is exciting that the team has such a crucial match on the way. South End Core are also working on travel to Luxembourg to support the National Team for the second leg.
“I am very happy that there is another supporters’ group now as I am sure that we can collaborate together with the ultimate aim to provide the best support possible to the National Team for such an important match,” he added.
Christopher Cassar, speaking on behalf of Ultras Malta, remarked that while the group has roots within the entertainment industry, it is working to attract a new audience to the stadium.
“We are already working to ensure that our first experience as a fan group is a success, and we will work together with South End Core to attract as many people to the stadium.”
