Cristian Chivu said Monday that his Inter Milan team can turn around a two-goal deficit against Bodo/Glimt and reach the last 16 of the Champions League.
Inter lost 3-1 in Norway last week and risk joining reigning Italian champions Napoli in being eliminated from Europe’s elite club competition.
“We don’t have any obligations, only a duty. All we need to do is go out on the pitch and do what we know we can do,” Chivu told reporters ahead of Tuesday’s clash at the San Siro.
“We have to go out there knowing that if there’s a team to turn this around, it’s us… We can’t lose faith in ourselves or our self-confidence.
“If we want to have any chance of qualifying from the play-offs we need to be the best version of ourselves.”
Inter will be without captain Lautaro Martinez in attack, while Chivu gave no update on the condition of key midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu who has had a variety of muscular problems in recent weeks.
The winners of the tie will play either Manchester City or Sporting of Portugal in the last 16 next month.
Bodo/Glimt have had a remarkable debut campaign in the Champions League, sneaking into the knock-out stage with shock victories over Manchester City and Atletico Madrid in their final two league-phase matches.
