Kerċem Ajax move seven points clear at the top of the GFA Division One as their nearest rivals all dropped points.
The Ajax are now one step away from lifting their second championship crown in their club history.
Last weekend, Kerċem Ajax brushed aside SK Victoria Wanderers 4-0 to secure their seventh consecutive victory, and they have not conceded a goal in their last six matches.
Kerċem Ajax needed 45 minutes to seal the points after netting all their goals in the first half.
Gabriel Vella opened the score in the 18th minute when his effort from a free-kick completely caught by surprise the Wanderers goalkeeper.
Andre Martins doubled his team’s lead with a long-range shot on 34 minutes before Vella grabbed his second of the match and his team’s third two minutes later.
In the 79th minute substitute Lorenzo Atzori sealed the win with the fourth goal.
Qala Saints secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Xewkija Tigers, to keep alive their hopes of a top three finish.
Qala were missing several regular players but started the match with four Buttigieg brothers on the pitch for the first time.
For Xewkiija, this was their second consecutive defeat and have seen their title aspirations suffer a major blow.
For much of the match, Xewkija kept up their pressure, but their forwards lacked their cutting edge in front of goal with Qala goalkeeper Franco Buttigieg pulling off a number of saves.
Two minutes from time, Xewkija had forward Brian Parada dismissed for hitting an opponent.
Qala soon profited from their numerical advantage as in stoppage time Gabriel Cardona fired home the winner.
Xagħra United boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop when dismissing Għajnsielem 4-1 win to move away from bottom spot.
Xagħra opened the score in the sixth minute with a low shot from Yousouf Rodo.
Għajnsielem levelled matters on 20 minutes courtesy of Jhon Gonzalez.
Xagħra dominated the second half, regaining the lead in the 51st minute with a penalty converted by Ibrahim Salis.
In the 67th minute, Marlon Mamo made it 3-1 before Rodo sealed the points with a fourth goal after being set up by Pedrinho.
GFA Division Two
Sannat Lions kept up the pressure on leaders St Lawrence Spurs when they overcame Munxar Falcons 4-1.
Igor Nedeljkovic put the Lions ahead from a penalty after 20 minutes but Luke Meilak pulled Munxar level.
On 47 minutes, Meilak missed the chance to put Munxar ahead when his penalty went wide. Sannat reacted strongly and dominated the remainder of the match, scoring three more goals through Cyriel Buttigieg (53), Paul Said (77), and Nedeljkovic (90).
St Lawrence Spurs secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Żebbuġ Rovers to remain at the top of the standings.
The Spurs opened the score in the 29th minute through Felipe Augusto, but Żebbuġ equalised three minutes later with a goal by Jake Sacco.
When the match seemed destined for a draw, St Lawrence scored the winner in the fourth minute of added time through a tap-in by Augusto after an assist from Jurgen Mario Portelli.
With his two goals in this match, Felipe Augusto strengthened his position at the top of the Second Division scorers’ list with 22 goals, five ahead of Sannat Lions forward Igor Nedeljkovic.
Meanwhile, during the week, the two semi-finals of the Second Division Knock-Out competition were played at the Sannat Ground.
Sannat Lions came from behind to beat Oratory Youths 4-2.
Oratory were twice in front with goals from Geordie Ellis (23) and Aroldinho (30).
But Sannat fought back and levelled the match with goals from Nicholas Grima (27) and Nedeljkovic (48).
Sannat continued to push forward and turned the result in their favour with goals from Nedeljkovic (56) and Aaron Azzopardi (84).
In the second semi-final, Għarb Rangers knocked out St Lawrence Spurs after a penalty shoot-out, as the match ended 2-2 after extra time.
Għarb looked set for an easy qualification after taking a two-goal lead in the first half through Kenny Hili (36) and Luke Sultana (44).
However, St Lawrence mounted a late rally restore parity with goals from Joel Xuereb (77) and Damien Jude Xerri (89).
In the fourth minute of stoppage time, St Lawrence had Keith Borg sent off after receiving a second yellow card, but the score remained unchanged during extra time and the match had to be decided by penalties.
