Champions Mġarr United continued their unbeaten run in the Assikura Women’s League after a 1-1 draw against Birkirkara.
Valeria Villegas opened the scoring for Mġarr, but Haruhi Sekura equalised for Birkirkara to earn a valuable point for the Stripes.
With the title already secured, Mġarr continue to show consistency, remaining unbeaten with just one match left to play – a remarkable achievement that underlines the gap between them and the rest this season.
Meanwhile, Swieqi United sealed a second-place finish with a convincing 2-0 win over Hibernians, thanks to a brace from Salamatu Abdulai.

The most entertaining match of the weekend came between San Ġwann and Valletta, which ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw.
San Ġwann’s Naila Addo scored twice, alongside a goal from Rioco Figueredo, while Valletta responded through Sarah Fenech, Molly Crowe and Ines Mohamed.

Despite the thrilling draw, the result does little to change the situation at the bottom of the table.
STANDINGS
Mġarr United 51; Swieqi United 39; Hibernians 34; Birkirkara 29; San Ġwann 6; Valletta.

Champions Mġarr women look to finish unbeaten
The Assikura Women’s League season comes to an end this weekend, with champions Mġarr United already crowned but looking to finish their winning campaign without a single defeat.
The weekend action begins on Friday night as Valletta face Swieqi United at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
Swieqi secured second place after last weekend’s win over Hibernians and will be looking to cap off their season with a victory.
Valletta, meanwhile, will be looking to end their season on a positive note after a difficult campaign, and they showed in last week’s 3-3 draw that they can still cause problems going forward.
On Saturday, Birkirkara take on San Ġwann at the Dingli Ground.
Birkirkara will be finishing fourth but will take plenty of positives from their impressive surge in the second part of the season.
San Ġwann will want to close their campaign with a competitive performance after a challenging year near the bottom of the table.
Later on Saturday, champions Mġarr United face Hibernians at the Centenary Stadium. With the title already secured, the big objective for Mġarr is clear – finish the season unbeaten. That would be a remarkable achievement and a perfect way to close a dominant season.
Hibernians, currently third, will want to finish strongly and bounce back from their Swieqi defeat.
